Third Street’s Extended Learning Hours provides extra time for students to explore the topics being covered during the school day in an environment that provides encouragement, learning, and growth.
Students are divided into groups that rotate through the schedule listed below. Each group will spend time exploring more deeply the science topic they were presented during the school day in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) Literacy class. Over the course of a week students in this class will read a book based on the science topic they are studying, write an essay, get feedback, and give a presentation.
After the STEAM Literacy class they will rotate to the STEAM Project class. Over the course of a week, students in this class will use the engineering process or scientific method to explore their questions and ideas related to the science topic they are studying. Next, the students will rotate to the Social Studies and Geography Exploration class. During this class, students will explore the Social Studies topic by completing projects, exploring the geography related to this topic, and reading historical fiction.
